College Advising, Teaching, Service and Research Awards


The College offers several awards to recognize outstanding service, teaching excellence and exemplary advising. We encourage you to take advantage of this opportunity to bring formal recognition to the excellence in your department. The awards range from $1,000 to $4,000 each.

Below, you will find a brief description of each award and the call for nominations. Feel free to send these nomination forms to any interested students. Students in the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences are encouraged to nominate outstanding mentors for these awards, award amounts range from $850 - $1,500. This award seeks to recognize a KU faculty member whose scholarship actively collaborates with a community partner through the creation of and dissemination of knowledge or creative expression while contributing to the scholar’s discipline and strengthening the wellbeing of the community. The award amount is $1,000.

This annual award recognizes a faculty member in the Social & Behavioral Sciences in the College of Liberal Arts & Sciences who has made a significant contribution to the teaching of students and who has distinguished her or himself through excellence in teaching. The award amount is $4,000.

This annual award recognizes a faculty member who has provided outstanding mentoring and service to undergraduates in the College of Liberal Arts & Sciences. All students in the College are invited to nominate an outstanding faculty mentor for this award. The award amount is $1,500.

This annual award is given to those who regularly reach out to students and to faculty to ensure students make good decisions about their educational and career goals.  Any faculty or staff member in the College of Liberal Arts & Sciences (CLAS) who advises undergraduate students in the College is eligible for this award.  The award amount is $1,000.

This is an annual award that recognizes three faculty members at the KU Lawrence campus who provide significant service to the people of Kansas as a purposeful extension to their teaching and research. One award will be given to a faculty member within the College, one award will be given to a faculty member outside of the College, and one award will be given at-large. The award amount is $1,000. In addition, each recipient will receive a $1,000 base adjustment to their salary.
